I'm 18 years old, and I've started sprinting recently. I train in intervals around three times a week, and usually train on grass. I decided to time myself and see how fast I can sprint 100 m, so I tried it on concrete, a lot more grip than grass. What I found out was that I ran 100 m in 16 seconds, I don't understand why I'm so slow! Most people are saying that they run under 13 seconds, and a guy my age should run about 12 seconds or under, but my sprint times are atrocious.
When I play soccer, people say that I am really swift, and quick, but how can this be if I run such a slow time? If running under 14 seconds is meant to be some sort of average for a guy my age, and people always tell me how fast I am in soccer, then why is my sprint times so slow? Is everyone that comes to soccer practice just really slow, and I'm just the fastest out of the bunch?
My average speed is 6.25 metres per second, which works out to be 14 mp/h or 22.5 km/h
Bob, my 60m elapsed time was 10 seconds, so it's not an endurance thing!
