Why is my new T-Mobile/Android using up so much data?

My new HTC Desrire on T-Mobile seems to be using up a lot of data for some reason. I haven't got anything auto-syncing, or at least not faster than every hour, but already today (it's 10am) I have used over 2,000kb of data. Any ideas?

Even GMail I don't have autosyncing... At home I use it on wifi.
 
Check if you have any applications running in the background. Usually that's one of the sources. Just open up applications, task manager (or something like it if you don't have it) & always close programs. Sometimes it doesn't quit properly & ends up running in the background & ends up using a lot of data as well as battery.
