a few days a ago i purchased a male betta fish i named Gaylord. then today i was at a pet store getting sumthing i needed for a pet and a clerk told me that u can put a male and female betta 2gether and they will not fight n possibly mate. so i bought one i named sushi and they seemed fine together at first but gaylord would sumtimes flare his gills and i took this as a mating act. to i left them alone only to come back to him beating her up. now her fins are torn and i feel really bad. so why did he do this? would i ever be able to put a differnt male with a female?
