why is my left ankle swollen

Swollen ankle(s) or legs is usually known as "peripheral edema." It can be caused by injury, old age, prolonged standing, being overweight etc. It could be connected to underlying medical problems. Do you have some medical condition like diabetes, heart trouble, kidney or liver problems?

Your knees might be red after a hot bath because the hot water causes your blood vessels expand so as to give off heat. It may be similar to blushing. It could be a sign that the water is too hot for you.

Hi John Thanks for you reply. I have had a few scans so any injury has been ruled out, I also had blood tests done about a year ago and they came back clear so I take it this has ruled out any medical conditions like diabetes, heart trouble, kidney or liver problems. Its not causing any pain, its just very unsightly and only appeared about 1 year ago. I'm not overweight and 27. Its only the left ankle, sometimes knee and back of calf if it gets bad. Its a strange one, maybe something I'll just have to get used to. Thanks again.
