Why is my fish tank so dark?

found few things.
could be the filter is it new?.
or The cloudiness that you're observing could be like a bacterial bloom. bacteria that break down fish waste sometimes go up into the water column which is what produces the cloudiness
or could it be the sand? sometimes sand can cloud the water
 
I have a 260ltr fish tank, tropical freshwater. the problem is in the last few week's i can't see past one inch in the water it's so foggy or misty or .......? i have sand and substrate at the bottom. i have a couple of different species of plants like grass and water weed. i have a couple different species of fish and apple snail's. I have had this tank up and running about 6 month's and have had no problems until a few week's back.I have tried changing the water that's not it. Is it possible the tanks is getting to much sunlight and the last few weeks have been nice. Need help please.....am lost ish
