My boyfriend just bought us two adorable ferrets, a girl(7weeks) and a boy(12weeks)
The girl is adventurous and playful but nips really hard when she wants to play, we've had them two days and haven't been able to pick either up without being bitten. She's latched onto my boyfriend so we're walking around in huge leather boots, terrified of squashing them.
They are aloud out of the cage whenever they like, they have plenty of food and water and things to play with but they really seem to hate us.We try to sound soothing. But they bite and bite and bite.
We've tried hissing and saying NO while scruffing but this has no effect and the male even turned around and bit me WHILE I was scruffing him, I watched a lady doing this and I don't see how what we're doing could be different. It does work on the girl.
What can we do?
If the girl latches flicking her nose may help if it comes to it but I don't know what to do about the boy, I don't want to abuse him for whats in his nature.
