...ANTIFREEZE in it ??? Please HELP =[? I just went and had it taken to a shop & put a new computer in it. As time went on it was running fine. But then, the antifreeze gage was going up and down after I had already put antifreeze in it and If I don't have antifreeze I use water. I don't think it is leaking. It takes FOREVER for my car to heat up also. I had a new thermostat put in and it worked fine for awhile. I had a new hose and spring put in so it would fix my antifreeze problem and air could get through or whatever. It would always boil over and I'd have to stop and put more antifreeze in it before that. We had it fixed to where the thing would stop from opening and closing making the gage move up and down, but still I am having the SAME problem .. The gage keeps moving up and down and the cars getting too hot even with antifreeze in it and no leaks. WHAT THE HECK .. ?? Please help I have no clue what to do now ..
I have a 1994 Ford Mustang <3
A BRAN new radiator was put in it also so it couldn't be that ..

First... that is not an antifreeze gauge... it's the Temperture gauge... which will fluctuate on temp, not level. So it may still be getting hot for other reasons... regardless as to what the level is.

Two... WATER IS THE WORSE thing to use... water does not displace heat very good. That is why we use coolant, it's not just the freezing aspect... it's the boiling point, of which water is not good for as the boiling point is too low.

Replace your system WITH a premix 50/50 coolant... and see what you get, and remember, you may still have another issue... is it actually running hot?

You may have a radiator restriction, feel the entire radiator, top and bottom near the hoses, does it feel just as warm in both spots? If not, you need a radiator.

Bad water pump is also possible... is your pump circulating?

- Good Luck!
