Why is my 2001 dodge dakota 4x4 making a popping noise in the front end?

I just replaced the cv shafts on both sides and when i put it in 4wheel drive it is fine until i slow down or turn then it makes a popping noise. i also noticed that the front drive shaft can be moved back and forth next to the transfer case. there is also a rattling type noise from about 25mph up.

its normal for the drive shaft its self to move a small amount but not the part that goes in to the transmission, you may not have it locked in all the way and that will cause it to do that, and you could have got a bad axle, this has happened to me a lot of times,go over it and recheck everything,i think you,ll find the problem with it,good luck
