Why is my 1999 ford windstars check light on,and possible transmission failure?

The van has about one hundred and twenty thousand miles on it,today the check engine light came on and stayed on for entire day. I opend the hood,look for unusual smells,leaks,anything that could be wrong and do not notice anything out of place.Well the overdrive light kept flashing several times,and the transmission seems to be shifting harder,taking longer to do so,when i put it in park it does rattle some,the trans was rebuilt at one hundred thousand miles. Any advice would be helpful,thanks
