oil burns black, water burns white. sounds like a head gasket. note that if you pull the head to check the gasket, you need to have the head milled (cause it warps when you pull it) and you typically replace the gasket when you do that. You could also pressurize the coolent system and check for air coming through the exhaust.

My 94 accord automatic is smoking heavy white smoke out of the tail pipe mostly when accelerating but not really to much or at all at idle. it is not over heating at all or running hot. my husband hecked the head gasket but there didnt seem to be any crackes in it, and also he checked the oil and it doesnt seem to have gotten any coolant in it. what cold be wrong? could it still be the head gasket??thank you for the help!
if i had had money to buy me a nice new prius i would!!i dont need unnessary comments! only helpful answers please!!!!

white smoke huh? has the car been getting hotter than normal? does it smell like coolant? your head gasket might be seeping. which causes coolant to leak out of the head down into the exhaust manifold where walla.. it heats up evaporates into a white smoke. now if your coolant level is good and you dont smell it anywhere.. then your cat might be bad. take it apart and use eletrical cleaner.... do you have check engine lights? most common thing with the white smoke is the head gasket.. i did mine my self but if you have a shop do it... its going to cost you 600.... more if you head is warped. if you look closely at the exhaust manifold where the gasket meets the head then you can see water bubbling.... thats a good sign its seeping.. get if fixed asap. if your in VA i can do it cheap.
