k guys here it goes,i have a 1989 sprint and i have bought and installed the folowing:battery, altenator, air filer, fuel filter. now for the problems,#1- It loses alot of power going up hills like i mean alot #2-It stalls when i stop so i have to give it gas. I have taken it to 3 people that know their way around cars and they are stumped. heres the funny part,we tested the altenator, battery and the coil with my voltmeter and when the car is running without any electrical stuff(lights, heat, stereo) its pushing out around 13.4 volts, but when i flick on the lights or heat or stereo the reading on the voltmeter drops to less then 1 volt and the car starts dying(it will stall if i dont give it gas) the last guy that looked at it said i might be grounding out somewhere.id really like to get it running top notch, its a great car on gas so if someone could help it would be awesome, thanks.

The alternator OR the battery should produce enough current to power the headlight, etc.

There is no short because if the battery (or the alternator) is good and you have a short, big enough to make the voltage drop to 1 volt, you would probably get a fire instead.

I think the alternator is NOT connected correctly (or fault even if new) and so the battery is NOT charging.

As for the power loss, that my or may not go away if you solve your electrical problem.

Try this: If you have a external charger - try charging it FULLY. Then try driving around. If the car has enough PEP with filly charged battery, then at least you do not have another other problem.

Good Luck...
