Why is it that so many Army guys dislike the Marines?

I see a lot of hate towards the Marines in Marine related topics so I would like to know why. And don't just say because they suck or some ignorant answer. Give me a true educated opinion.
Actually it's

A=Aren't
R=Ready to be
M=Marines
Y=Yet

Lol. Just though I would clear that up.
Puffs: I'm sure that is a little bit overdone in what you said but if that's your opinion then so be it. Every Marine I have ever met is respectable and may like to have fun and get drunk and all that but does it responsibly. Thats what they teach you in boot camp. Me being a future Marine have already started carrying myself with respect because I know what I represent.
Jason: I wasn't spewing. I was making a correction. It's just a joke and you shouldn't take it so personally. And yes the Marines do use Navy equipment. Thank you for clearing that up for everyone who didn't know that.
HOW ABOUT EVERYBODY STOP WITH THE ACRONYMS? I put this up to get EDUCATED opinions. Not a contest to see who can make up words to go along with letters. Good job army guys. Way to get so offended by one thing that you have to keep it going in such a childish way. I've concluded that the Army guys are just jealous. Thanks for the answers everybody.

Most civilians see the armed forces as a united being.

But their is a lot of rivalry in the military. I think it's childish. Some people have huge ego's.

I have nothing against the marines as a whole, but some individuals carry too much pride.

Same goes for some soldiers.

By and large it's a friendly rivalry just with heavy ball busting on both sides.

Also, the internet tends to make people talk a lot of sh*t they wouldn't in person.

B/c where I am stationed the marines ruin everything for us. These guys do the most stupid things ever--break into people's houses drunk to pass out, they steal purses from people, they start fights, they get completely drunk and pass out everywhere, they bring shame to the entire military because it's not like civilians go "oh, that's just the marines"

Perhaps it's because us Army types know that everyone is entitled to make one mistake, but can't for the life of us understand why anyone in his/her right mind would want to be one of:

U = Uncle
S = Sams
M = Misguided
C = Children

Clear enough?

PS: Don't fall for that last to leave line. Too many Army types that served in Vietnam remember Marines 'Advancing to the rear' as fast as their legs could carry them!

This phenomenon is commonly known as "inter-service rivalry". Members of each branch of the armed forces likes to believe their service is better, tougher, cooler, and sexier than the others. It's human nature.

Imagine what the Boston Celtics and the L.A. Lakers say about each other in the locker room. It's the same phenomenon as the Army versus Marines thing.

All of this rivalry disappears the instant the enemy appears. Once the rounds start flying, everyone knows they are all Americans.
