People can live without their tongues, but in movies, people are killed by this. I offer 2 movies that I can remember off the top of my head: Dead Silence, circa 2000's, that puppet movie where the creepy old lady kills people by cutting off their tongues. Blood Feast, circa 1973, I think. Somewhere in the 1970's. He kills the girl in the motel by holding her down and pulling her tongue out. Unrealistically long tongue, I might add, but not important. Anyways, just a little Hollywood movie magic? It just seems strange that writers with all that imagination have to resort to killing off people in ways that won't kill someone in real life.
they die almost instantly, by the way, not really characteristic of loss of blood
