Why is it that Africa is so far behind as a civilized society even though they are

the cradle of civilization? Why is it that disease, famine, poverty and strife continue to plague these poor people after hundreds of years? I mean it's not like they don't have abundant natural resources. Can anyone help me out? Thank you!
I'm not starting any arguments. I am asking a question. Help me out here.
 
well ...look at the geography of Africa.. I believe that if you look at its location and see the life which it has then yo uwill realize why famine and poverty are there.
 
Because they are unfortunate in that most countries there have crappy and corrupt leaders.

I read that Botswana was one of the best African countries with one of the least corrupted governments.
