I am currently living with my ex girlfriend. We had a son while we were together. I have a girlfriend, she has a boyfriend. We fight occasionally but the reasons are irrelevant. She pays the rent and I take care of our son and stay home because I'm disabled. I live in upstate new york.
We had been arguing some today and we were trying to resolve some old problems between us. We weren't yelling and fighting for once. Then out of no where her boyfriend shows up. He doesn't knock on the door or even let us know he's coming into the apartment. My ex had given him permission to just walk into the apartment (which makes me extremely uncomfortable seeing as she's only known him a couple of months). So he shows up and raises his voice at me while he voices his opinion about me even though he doesn't know much if anything about me. He says something to the effect of "don't you ever touch her again." as if she had told him that i beat her(which wouldn't surprise me). I said "well that sounds like a threat". To which he raises his hands as if he's going to hit me and and say "you want to make it a threat". At this point i figured it'd be wise to call the police and at the very least make sure that a report is filed, if not to also have him arrested. The police show up and basically say that he hasn't done anything wrong and they won't arrest him. So once again, How is it legal that he can quiet literally walk into my home and threaten me without any provocation and not be arrested?
