Why is it better to take an I.B. program throughout high school than all A.P. classes?

I'm applying for different highschools but my brother thinks its dumb that im leaning on going to a far away (a hassle in those early mornings) school with an I.B. program, because he thinks I could just get into the same college in any school i go to, than my school that I'd go to automatically in which (if I didnt get into any of the other schools) I'd take all A.P. andd do renaissance or leadership- I wont try out for renaissance or leadership at the schools where they have an I.B. program-

*and no matter where I go im going to play a sport*

so what should I do? PLEASE HELP ME. i am soo confused :/
sorry i know my question is a little confusing and difficult to answer but please help me ive been pulling my hair out with worrrrryyy. :/
