its only recently and in the United States that it is predominately women who ride. throughout history, it was mostly men. in other countries it is still mostly men or more evenly mixed. the reason why is because riding isn't as much a part of our culture like it is in other countries. the Olympic riders in Europe are like our baseball, basketball, or even golf players here. they have their own clothing lines, sports drinks and its sponsored by their government and big companies.
