why is help so hard to get to people who need it

My wife has quite a few health problems and has been put on part time work from her doctor;(24 hours a week). I was laid off from the company we both worked for and they canceled her insurance 3 months before they told any of the employees still working there. She has arthritus in her foot and left leg due to an automobile accident she had 4 years ago and no companies seem to want to help us with our medical bills. She has hepatitus C through no fault of her own and insurance companies treat her like she is a leper. She needs catarac surgery on one of her eyes and a surgeon has agreed to perform the surgery on her eye at little or no cost compared to what her first doctor quoted. We have both worked hard our whole life to have a secure life in our wonderful country and now we feel like we are on the outside looking in. Hard working americans seem to have been left behind in the overall plan of our government's plan of the state of the people of the United States of America. Does any of our elected officials out there really care about their constituents or are they only concerned about their own egos of their elected positions and the lobbyists they suck up to? How about you vote to give us the same health policy that you get or vote to accept to live what we are forced to live with. Do you have the guts to do what is right or are you going to hide behind your position and leave my wife and I in your dust? Put your ego on the shelf and be the concerned citizen you profess to be.
