Why is America so unintelligent and hypocritical when it comes to drug laws?

Actually, alcohol isn't a gateway drug, but it is worse for you than marijuana, as are cigarettes.

But I bet you don't get anywhere insulting people.

i mean, alcohol is legal and marijuana is not. it does not get more hypocritical than that.

and for the people who say, well alcohol won't get blown in other people's faces... you can eat marijuana.. it doesn't have to be legal to do on the street (just like alcohol isn't). and for those of you who say it's a gateway drug, if you didn't have to buy marijuana (a safer drug) through illegal drug dealers that sell other stuff, then it wouldn't be. and if you want to call anything a gateway drug, alcohol is the true culprit.
D RAT > way worse effects than alcohol? are you talking about the guy who killed all those children driving drunk? oh wait that was alcohol. oh or are you talking about all those people who beat their wives? oh wait that was alcohol too. or are you talking about all those people that just plain drink too much and die? oh wait that's alcohol too! OR are you talking about that guy who watched nick at nite and ate a bowl of lucky charms.... oh yess that was weed!
D RAT > and yes, america did try to make alcohol illegal and look what happened. they also tried to make marijuana illegal and LOOK what is happening. lol you make my own points for me.
Sharon > i like your point, but here's the thing, America making something legal doesn't necessarily mean more people will do it. And making weed legal would give an alternative to someone (legally) to smoke (without going to a dangerous drug dealer etc...) or to drink.

It is legislating taste and we can't have that in America. we are founded on principles, and we need to keep those principles.

You are saying that if someone wants to do a less harmful drug they should be prosecuted for it, whereas a person endangering someone should not.

I think a government in a totally free society outlawing what people do with their bodies is completely tyrannical. if you take drugs and hurt someone else then go ahead and prosecute them. but to throw someone in jail for doing something with their own bodies is so not free.

why are most people uneducated to herbal properties versus medicinal drugs?
Why are more people aware of what viagra is than what your diet does to your sex drive?
Why do more people visit fast food junk stores than the health stores?
No clue.

Because weed has way worse effects than alchohol....obviously....so quit complaining on how it's illegal and alchohol is. America did try to make alchohol illegal, but I'll allow you to go back to 6th grade and learn what happened

America is acting stupid when it comes to everything at the moment. (alot of things)

Money; seriously the money is wasted on the stupid bailout

Gun control; making laws to restrict guns isn't going to help. Criminals don't follow laws to begin with

Drugs; i don't understand why some drugs are illegal. Any drugs that doesn't affect non users should be legal.

I heard about a doctor who 'evaluates' if you need medical marijuana or not (around where i live). You have to pay him $200-$300 or something, if you dont need medical marijuana then he'll give you your money back. (basically he finds some reason to give you marijuana)

America is still my country and i'll support her.

Because American laws can be so lame. I agree with you 100%.
No one has been known to get belligerent under the influence of marijuana either. I've been smoking it for 35 years. Imagine all the tax money they could have made off of me by now!!
btw I am an American too.

yes, i agree. alcohol is pretty bad considering the negative effects it has on people .. but do we honestly need another drug on the streets? seriously. if it was legal, so many people would accept it and use it, and like we need another contributing factor to car crashes. while smoking weed may not make you unpredictable and effect your reaction time, it's different for everybody. i have been smoking since i was 12 .. and i can truly say we don't need it legalized.
