I'm politically left of left. Yes, I'm "one of those" people--love it or lump it.
During political discussions with people in the offline world, I often ask people about why electing Obama seemed like the obvious choice. In my opinion, he's not a whole lot different than Bush (continued war in Iraq and created a new one in Afghanistan, has only the welfare of corporate interest in mind at the cost of the American people). When asking these people how they feel about the war in Afghanistan, all the people I've spoken with retort with the same regurgitated response, "That war NEEDS to be in place." I guess I'm so taken back, not with the response, but the fact that everybody mindlessly spits out that response. My mistake is that I've never challenged it.
So here's my question: HOW and WHY do people feel that the invasion of Afghanistan is justified? (you're entitled to your opinion, I just want people to back up their opinions with logic).
Thanks.
