Why human the smartest species have to learn to preserve environment and other species?

For millions of years, in the nature, all kinds of animals lived together balanced and thrived. Why the smartest human evolved to destroy the natural environment and other animal species? Is that the fittest survive principle of evolution?
g grant, appreciate following my questions deligently but looks like in your answer you are leaving out the focal point of questions for your own convinience.
 
Actually, we're preserving the pigs, cows, dogs and cats quite well. Yay for humans!

I tell you, if you want to save a species from extinction, put it on the menu!
 
Smart does not equate with awareness..in fact being smart merely comes from the perception of the ego mind.
The ego destroys the planet because the ego is worshipped unbeknown to the man who resides in it's power.
Only in awareness is ego not known and healing of the planet begins.
 
I always thought that Locusts stripped whole areas of crops bare,leaving nothing for other animals,before moving on.
I would hardly say that locusts allow other animals to thrive.
 
We as humans are to smart for our own good. All other animals have to evolve quick to cope with the destruction of Man and his ways and it's become a huge challenge for them. The ones that cant cope become extinct and thus only the fittest survive. This occurred when the mass extinction of dinosaurs came about with some animals being the fittest surviving only the cause was a meteor striking the Earth.

This is a rosy-colored view of the past which is not supported by observed reality. 99.9% of all species which ever lived are now extinct. Any perceived balance is temporary.

fit = passing your genes on to the next generation successfully. Don't go reading more into it than that, because that would be stupid. Like all your previous evolution questions. And this one, too.
 
Eventually, we will kill our own resourcesby being selfish.

Gloabal warming was going to happen anyway, but we have accelerated it.
Money money money. People live for money. You need it. This is our lifestyle now.
So many other reasons too
