Why girls discuss deep topics with a guy friend?

Last night I found myself in a conversation with a close girl friend. We liked each other a few months back, but we both decided to definitely stay friends. Last night though, the conversation worried me. We got on the conversation of love and marriage, and she asked what I thought about certain things. I told her thinking nothing, and she kept making comparative comments of agreement or disagreement on what I said. She would then add her own beliefs after what I said. She even told me jokingly not to judge her on certain things.

A male opinion has as much value to women as a female one does to men, that's why we do it.

Deep topics are easier to discuss with men, because men don't judge you as harshly as another woman does, she's used to this judging because she even joked about you judging her.

Since you decided to stay friends, she may be gauging to see how it "would've worked out" if yall had crossed that line.

This sounds like a good relationship. Keep being honest with her and don't let deep topics scare you away, it only means she trusts you and likes you as a person.
