Why don't they make it illegal to ride a bike on a public street?

It should be illegal for the same reason it is illegal to ride a horse on the public streets. It sure would lower our insurance rates since we have to pay for the risk of running into one of them.
 
If you're that bad a driver that you are likely to run into us cyclists, then you should be paying much higher premiums, right before the police cart you off and lock you up!

Bikes were invented before cars, so us cyclists have been kind enough to allow you to share our roads!
 
It would also be huge inconvenience for people who either can't afford to have a car, have lost their license, are too young to drive, or are actually doing something to help the environment. Horses crap all over the street. There is a difference.

We could just make cars illegal and then you wouldn't have to worry about your insurance rate at all.
