Why don't the big three (GM, Ford, Chrysler) sell a diesel-powered passenger car in USA?

Is it that they aren't able to build clean diesel vehicles, or is it because of the fact that the Big Three are married to Big Oil?
I always hear of them having all those great cars that are only sold in Europe. That drives me nuts and keeps me from buying their product.

Diesel costs more? Right now, in most parts of US, diesel is cheaper than premium gas. But we are forced to buy gas engined cars because of the limited choices available.

well they say people will have a hard time going to diesel...

honestly, they obviously are married to big oil...

watch the movie "who killed the electric car" for free on youtube. it really is an eye opener. it changed the way i thought about the car industry.

yea, everyone's heard of the 60+ mpg ford. ford says they didn't wanna bring it home because people won't be willing to buy a diesel...but that excuse is lame. its god damn 60+ mpg diesel!!! people would line up for blocks for one!

and diesels now are cleaner burning.

its either because the epa doesn't let their cars pass the environmental requirements or its a sick evil plan from government so we keep buying gas. i do know ford has the fiesta in diesel getting 60 mpg in europe, they should bring it here.
