...jobs? ? millions will lose pensions, 2nd tier and 3rd tier suppliers will go bankrupt, 2 million to 3 million people will be unemployed why dont you support a 40 million$ bail out of the auto industry this is a mail street bail out

Weed out the old.

Give the new a chance to grow.

How many times do we have to bail these guys out before they make a competitive product and a healthy company.

WE ahve to bail them out. It just pisses me off that they are in this mess. If Reagan hadn't rolled back all the auto regulations and energy policies, the auto industry would have been building decent cars 25 years ago and not be in this mess.

I don't think we should because i mean where does it end?? First Fannie Mae, then Freddie Mac, then AIG, then GM. Chrysler.....

I'm surprised that Cirucit City hasn't asked for help!

But NOONE wanted to help me keep my home, or my car! Noone wants to help the everyday person.....just corporate giants!

Screw em' Let em go down just like the rest of us....that's the way it is right?

If people think this is just UAW then they are very ignorant.
The big three represent 10% of the jobs in America.
If anyone blames the unions....again I say they just don't know. The unions have taken concessions on wages and benefits for the last 10+ years. The upper management did not. They got their bonuses. So don't try blaming the unions.
If they go down it will have a devastating affect on the nation. For every one job lost by the big three, there are twelve affected on the perimeter. Don't think because you are not employed by or have any connection that you know of that you will not feel the affects.
This is a national concern, not just the other guy's problem.

They made a fatal mistake, they failed to adapt their business models to move with the times.

OBAMA will retool these companies to offer Americans Electric Cars.
This will be the conditions that come with the funding.
He will not fund traditional petroleum cars, re-tool or close the doors for good.
Gasoline and oil for fuel will be illegal by 2020 in USA.
This is the perfect time to go GREEN, and unless they comply, they will go out of buisness.

I don't get why they don't want the auto bailout either. Probably because they don't realize that: 1) one in ten jobs in this country depend on the Big Three. They go under, where are all those people going to find jobs? And 2) It's part of our industrial security. Without an auto industry in this country we could never tool up for a war, should we have to switch over to building planes, tanks, and other war machines, etc., the way they did during WWII. The bailout proposed would include strings about building energy efficient cars. Government decisions years ago are mainly responsible for the mess they are in.

I don't support bailouts of failed corporations especially three that has been a huge business failure since the 1980s. If I really wanted to save those jobs, I'd prefer nationalization over a bailout which keeps the crappy management exactly where it currently is.

1) American auto manufacturers have clung to antiquated, unsuccessful business models for much too long.

2) We've already given the auto industry billions in bailouts and even their unionized labor have taken benefit cuts to help keep them afloat.

3) The auto industry is asking for a heck of a lot more than $40 million. GM alone is asking for at least $25 billion.

How long should the American people keep propping up these failures? Isn't this just a different form of socialism, except a lot less effecient and fair?
