Why doesn't yahoo spam filters sort out the spam addresses when I mark them spam?

Some spams I mark and they keep coming into my inbox from the same addresses. Particularly aggravating are the phishing mails from Africa. I can't believe there is a person on the planet who would get involved with these Nigerian criminals! How do I filter them out if yahoo cannot?
