Hey folks, I'm asking this question for a friend of mine that has a 1996 Buick Park Avenue that until recently has been starting up and running well. However, when trying to start the car recently, the lights, radio, clock, etc. turn on, but the only thing coming from the engine is a click noise. We tried unscrewing the bolts from the battery and cleaning them off, and after that attempt it started up fine for a few tries. Now the problem is back, and we need to know what the problem might be so we can fix it for good. Neither of us is that good at fixing cars, so we're a little lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If anything needs to be better explained or clarified, please ask!

id recheck the cables again jump start it and drtive to any parts store or shop and just ask them to check charging system most places free and only takes 5 minutes

Your problem could be a bad battery or a bad engine starter. A car battery usually lasts 3 to 4 years.
