13th amendment section 1 "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."
To me it seems clear that forcing someone to join the military is involuntary servitude. Why should the government be able to force people to join the military against their will? I think if the US ever faced a legitimate threat from another country then there would be no shortage of willing volunteers to fight. How is the draft constitutional?
I had to register with selective services, so don't try to tell me the draft doesn't exist anymore - it is just not actively going on. If we didn't have the potential to draft people, then we wouldn't need selective services.
