why doesn't the bluetooth on my blackberry work ?

i bought a blackberry recently and i cant figure out how to do the bluetooth well at least i think i can but it just doesn't work when i try to send some thing to it from another phone i click the listen button and then the other phone says its connecting but then it says connection failed and it doesnt work when i try to send something from another phone to bluetooth =S
