Why doesn't my NEW aftermarket stereo turn on?

I installed a NEW Pioneer stereo into my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am with the wire harness that was recommended by a professional installer (I can live w/o the chimes) However, when I plug in the stereo and turn the key over, the stereo doesn't turn on! Did I get the right harness or what am I doing wrong?

The correct harness that you chose not to purchase does more than retain chimes. It also provides a retained accessory. You'll now have to find an accessory wire elsewhere in the vehicle, because there is not one located behind the radio.

The harness will alway include a ground, some strereos require an additional ground, mine did anyway AVIC F90BT, the ground in the harness and a seperate ground.
The thing is that GM is fukd in the head. You need to run a seperate wire running from the red wire on the stereos harness into your fuse box, since GM conviently did not give a true power wire in the harness, I really wonder why there sales have hit rock bottom! While looking for a fuse to tap, look for one that turns on while in the acc position as well, and off when the key is out of the ignition or in the off position.
