why doesn't my blackberry curve format the media card?

i have the blackberry curve 8330? anyways i have had two curves, the first curve formatted the media card.. then something changed. i got a replacement curve but the media card still will not format. it says "media card not formatted," then when i go to format the media card the screen always freezes and doesn't do anything. how do i make the media card format..?
 
Ach, I looked all over Google, and couldn't find anything to solve this issue.

My best guess would be to troubleshoot this problem by getting a different memory card in to see if it's your card or your phone, though I'm assuming it's your phone since you've gotten it to work before. Do a hard reset, by turning your phone off and taking out the battery for a little. Maybe take the card out, and put it back in as well.
