why doesnt cricket just buy pocket communications

cause it would be cheaper cause if cricket build out there going to run pocket out of business might as while just buy them

You do make a valid point. Once you reach a certain size,it's cheaper to buy smaller established companies than it is to establish your own infrastructure..> that said, it's entirely possible Pocket Wireless' infrastructure sucked, and since cricket is getting ready to launch ev-do, they'd have to rebuild it anyway.

yes but it wouldn't be cheaper to just by pocket and add evdo then it would be to make a infrastructure from the ground up plus you would have a customer base of 170,000 customers as wikipedia say they have

Not necessarily cheaper... Bear in mind, the cost of buying pocket would include buying pockets infrastructure, as well as paying them a premium for their clients. It would almost definitely cost more, and they'd still have upgrading to do.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, because obviously we don't know the specifics of what buying pocket would entail, but it's probably just as easy for cricket to build their network the way they want, knowing they'll probably end up stealing most of pocket's customers anyway.... And once cricket's infrastructure is in place, and pocket starts floundering, cricket can buy what's left of pocket for pennies.

Pocket been getting the taste slapped out of their mouth in markets they "tried" to compete against the "K".
Bring it on Paul

LOLOLOLOLOL
Why would Cricket need some little guy like Pocket to develop a market for them? You do know how many markets they built out before little old S.A. right? I can't go into details but...Cricket ain't buying what he's selling.

the only problem i see for Cricket in south texas is that Pocket will not be hurt as bad as everyone thinks it will, as far as sales go. alot of pocket clients down here need those under $30 plans. u have to live here to see it and know this. LET ME ELABORATE. example: there are many high end car dealerships in the area, but still there are more and more used dealerships around and strong too. there will be clients for everyone. and if Pocket does end up shutting down, who cares, the people at the top will have made their MONEY and it means nothing for you, me, us. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.

I know that market very well. Cricket will roll in and work it just like S.A.
BTW I gain both personally and monetarily when Cricket does well :hehehe:

i'm doing well down here in the pocket market as i buy large quantities of used cells for cheap and flash and resell high. i dont know if pocket will be ok but i know i will be.

The truth is the guy who own's pocket built all those towers and Cricket was going to partner up with him in those area's and pay to use his towers and at the last minute after he had built all the towers, Cricket backed out. They basically told him they didn't want to do business with him so he was so pissed off he started his own company, Pocket. He won't sell to Cricket because he hates Cricket now and there just going back in forth on sales and promotions in those areas...lol...It's some crazy stuff going on between Cricket and Pocket in that area.

do you know what capabilites i will lose if i flash a htc touch (for sprint) to pocket. i am hesitant to do this in fear of not beingable to send pic msg and interenet capabilities. please advise thanks.

:befuddled  :D
