why does tony stark shut down the weapon manufacturing part of his business?

In the movie, I believe it was because he was first hurt by one of his own weapon designs. And second he found his weapons were making their way into the hands of terrorists.

A distant third answer was because of Pepper Potts. But i think the first two are why.
 
because the terrorists were getting them & he wanted to be loyal to his country & plus thats when he started making his iron man suit..... i think
