Why does the Pope see the Catholic Church as some form mental illness?

Since the Catholic Church is riddled with straight and gay sex scandals both inside and out, it's only fair to say that they see themselves as disgusting, perverted and as a mental illness because they see sexual acts and homosexuals that way. Or at least, according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church...

Why then, does the Pope see himself as perverted (which is probably true since he helped cover up the sex scandals)
