why does the media/news not really cover serial killers these days?

when i think or serial killers, there are a few big names such as Bundy, Dhamer, Gein, Gacy, ect.

But they where active about 50 years ago, and according to the FBI , there are any wear from 25-100 active serial killers in the us at any given time.

I am just wondering like why you really don't here about this?
 
well today the news wants you to know how you could die tomorrow not how someone in utah could be killed tomorrow
