Why does the media keep calling Christmas the Holidays instead of Christmas?

Obama is calling the Christmas tree in Washington DC a holiday tree. Lowe's are calling their lights holiday light instead of Christmas lights, and Gap is calling the Christmas season the Holiday season instead. I read that they're doing this so they don't offend the atheists. Well, I am a Christian and am offended that they are replacing the word Christmas with the word Holidays. 80% of Americans believe in God and about 10 or 15% of people don't believe in God, so I would think that they're actually offending far more Christians than atheists.

I just don't understand it. Christmas is supposed to be about thanking God and Jesus and that's why there's the word Christ in Christmas, since Jesus' last name was Christ.
 
I do agree...unfortunetly the secular community does not see it that way. One of the major players in this "politically correctness" is the ACLU. They want Christian holidays to "go away". They say it is a discrimination for unbelievers...but it is fine if people have secular decorations up.No one knows if Jesus was born this day,but it is our right(and as believers) to share the joy of this Holy Birth.
In our town, we had stores only use the word holiday.And a boycott was started(telling them they won't get our service anymore).....And next year they all went back to Merry Christrmas!! You could write a letter to your newspaper and maybe try improving things there.

i'm a christian too and im not even remotely offend by it and its because in december there are more holidays then just christmas. Its to not offend people who celebrate Kwanzaa or Hanukkah or other religious holidays that are in December.
