Why does the media feel like they have the right to expose homosexuals?

I've seen this many times in the past like david bowie boy george adam lambert and ellen degenerees. Why do they expose homosexuals i mean there are so many other things to expose: Such as terrorists, prostitutes, manipulators, and white collar criminals.
