Why does sony vegas' rendering audio sound HORRIFIC?

I made a music video using Sony Vegas, and for some reason, when I render it, the music sounds fade-y as if it constantly shifts between the volume. It sounds horrible, and I don't know what could have caused this. I have made music videos before in sony vegas, and they sounded perfect. But now for some reason it's acting up.
