I'm just below average height and on my way to school I walked by this primary school. I had to squeeze past a few kids who were just about my waist height. Then the thought hit me, in a few years time, these kids are all gonna be taller than me. And that's when I started to wonder why we stop growing when we reach a certain age. Babies grow unbelievably fast but then hardly grow an inch when they go past the 20 years mark. And suddenly as old age starts to kick in, we actually shrink. What I'm wondering is, overtime, what do we lose that makes this growth pattern?
