Why does North Korea repress their people's communication?

To keep them under control. Its a 100% dictatorship. Simple things such as TVs, cell phones, computers and radios are strictly regulated. North Korea has convinced their people that they live in a paradise, while the rest of the world lives poverty. When it obviously is just the opposite.

China is extremely bad as well-but i believe that North Korea probably is worse.
 
Why does North Korea repress their people's communication, and how does it compare to what the Chinese do to their people. Also, what are the impacts on their people?
I'm just wondering. Any answer would be helpful. Thanks!
 
Crush freedom of speech, crush the people's knowledge. A stupid populace is a tame populace. It happens in any dictatorship (and the Obama regime would/will do the exact same by hook or crook).
