New Orleans has 40 murders so far this year, and had 165 murders last year, for only 343,000 people. That's a murder rate of 52 (per 100,000 people per year). Absolutely insane. The US national average is 5.0.
Rome's murder rate is 0.34. Vancouver is 1.5. London is 1.57. Vienna is 1.1. New York City is 6.4.
New Orleans has a murder rate much more consistent with other THIRD-WORLD cities.
Why don't Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Governor Bobby Jindal address this horrific crisis?
If you tell people from other first-world countries about New Orleans, they are horrified. They wonder why a first-world nation would permit such a thing. But if you tell the Mexicans, they don't think it's so bad!
You KNOW things are terrible when you have to compare your city to MEXICO to make it look better!
Should we just give most of New Orleans to Mexico, or what?
