Why does my Sony Walkman nwz-e436f not charge?

My mp3's battery icon says there is only 1 bar left but when I use the usb recharger, it immediately says the battery is full? Why is it like this.. does this mean no battery was charged? When I remove the USB, it changes back to 1 barf of battery left. Is the battery broken? Please Help
