Why does my sisters Jeep Cherokee have better pick up than my Jeep Wrangler?

My sister has a 1996 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0 liter engine, and i have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler with a 4.0 Liter engine, and her car has significantly better pick up. I've been having some tranny problems but besides that, both cars run great. Shouldn't a newer engine have better pick up? I had read somewhere that the jeep enginners had came out with a new straight six cylinder in 2000 or so. Also, her car i don't think has ever had a tune up but mine did just last January. Her Cherokee has 144,000 miles and my Jeep wrangler has 138,000.
 
Could be different ratio rear-ends, or, different ratio gearing in the transmissions. Hers may weigh less (horsepower to weight ratio).
