Why does my Samsung, blue ray player turn off with the screen?

Whenever I turn on my LCD, the blue ray player also turns on. This is fine, but when I turn the screen off, it also turns off. this is a problem because when I want to listen to Pandora, I want to turn the screen off to save on energy but the player follows. How can i change this setting?

The model # is BD-C6500
