Why does my ride "smell" like inside the primary???

I use RedLine Shockproof Heavy in my tranny. MTL in the primary. Mobil 1 V-twin in the engine.

NO VISIBLE LEAKS or drops in the garage.

Yet that distinct RedLine Shock Proof Heavy oil odor emanates strongly from down under when the scoot is warm.

Any ideas??? Maybe this is typical??? I know it is not the MTL or V-twin that stinks.

Thanks.

I posted a similar one month or so ago. I use Mobil-1 synthetic and after changing the oil, I also noticed the smell of the gear oil. Someone said if some of it drained under the bike or onto the cross member, it would be there for some time. Well it's been 2500 miles and I still smell it, yet my tranny is full. Maybe I need to drive in the pouring rain for a while. Anyway, I quit worrying about it.

I changed all three holes about 600 miles ago. Used Mobill 1 gear oil in the tranny, Mobil 1 20-50w in the motor and primary. I also noticed a oil smell once the bike got warmed up. Very little residue after the change and the smell is still there after 600 miles. Thinking it's just a venting thing, not sure. I've checked the levels in tranny and motor and it's all good. Maybe it's just a Mobil 1 thing?

I hope you meant transmission not primary.
Redline shock proof Heavy is a gear lube and not for primary. redline makes a primary lube but the one you mentioned is not it and would be way to heavy and the wrong lube for primary.
If you meant transmission it may be over full, if you did put it in primary you need to get it out and flush primary with proper lube a few times.

did you change transmission oil as well theres a small vent line ontop near the starter that I had a gear oil smell out of after I put Mobil 1 in

+1 on the vent tube on top transmission cover, it's a rubber hose with a couple turns in it that goes to nowhere. If your levels are good and no leaks, that's probably where it's comin from.

Gotta vent the case pressure or the gasket will leak when it gets hot, the odor is normal from expansion of gasses in the case, synthetics are a little more noticeable than conventional lube for smell.

there's a vent on the inner primary cover too,it's in the back, well hidden. Some oils have a higher rate of evaporation when they're heated then others.that's probably the source of the smell.
