that's for people who like driving sticks. it'll also make the engine sound really powerful. manuals are fun to drive. it's all personal preference. a lot of cars are doing that now.
some people like being able to shift gears because it is more gas efficient. being able to do it without using a clutch and having the car do it for you is easier and people are lazy so they're willing to pay for it.
