Why does my hi def tv have lines through the graphics for some Wii games?

I have the Wii hooked up with a component cable to the tv. With some games, mostly Hooked Real Motion Fishing and Dead Rising Chop til You Drop, there are lines through the "water" while you are fishing, and through some of the zombie scenes. Is this because the response of the game is slower than the response on the tv or something I hooked up wrong?
