why does my hair keep falling out?

I have long brown hair (never dyed) and it seems to fall out in vast amounts.Everywhere I look I find my hair ! Its really embarrassing and goes everywhere. I find myself picking it up to put it into the bin at my boyfriends so he doesn't ask about it! is it stress? or is it just life?
 
could be stress or your hair loses like 100 hairs a day anyways so you might not have brushed it so it builds up, also eating disorders can cause this too
