I don't get it, most dogs whine for food, water, walks, attention, when they are in pain, but I don't understand why my dog does it, it is driving me insane, really.
She is absolutely quiet in the house, does not whine at all, even when I leave the house, she will not whine, for food, walking or anything, she will not whine. As soon as I put her on the leash to take her for a walk, we would get outside, she would constantly whine, she would not pull, but whine while she was walking, while she is sniffing grass, when she would see a friendly person and get petted as well as seeing another dog or animal would make her whine really badly, to the point where that if you would try to ignore it, it would get worse, from whining to screaming to barking, she did this for 35 minutes one time, and did not stop. Ignoring did nothing to curb the behavior.
Anyway, I started popping the leash whenever I heard the whine and paired that with an 'oi', and surprisingly, it got a lot better, but not completely stopped. This was drastically reduced for a couple of months. Now, she has started to get worse, and starting to ignore me when I correct her, where one pop would get her to be quiet, 6 or 7 now need to be used, and she is starting to cry like before when friendly people would approach and want to pet her, and dogs, she would be the same too. This is really getting on my nerves, what can I do?
Why do you think she whines this way? When she comes back from running around from a half hour, she would be panting heavily, but still be whining, so it's not the fact that she is bored or got too much energy.
She is a year old!
I've had 7 dogs in the past, none have ever been like her.
She did this the day she came here, at 3 months and she is a year now, she isn't scared either, the day I took her in, she was pulling wildly on the lead and crying non-stop! It was reduced drastically, but has gotten worse again!
If you say no, and not do anything else, she will ignore you even more, a pop on the leash paired with an 'oi' is harder to ignore.
She is a very excitable dog, but so is my other dog at times, and he does not whine!
