Why does my document look different in Print Preview mode?

I'm making a document in Microsoft Word 2007 and everything looks fine on the screen. I check print preview and everything's the same. Just how I want it.

Then I connect to my HP 6310 printer and when I print, about 3 centimeters is cut off from the side of the page. I go back and press print preview, and the print preview has changed. It looks exactly like what the printer printed. It had the 3 centimeters cut off just like in the document that was printed. So the the document printed wrong, the print preview confirmed exactly what was printed, but on my screen, my document is still displayed how I wanted it to look.

Then I switched the printer to "Microsoft XPS document writer" and check the print preview. It jumped back to how I wanted it, without the missing 3 centimeters.

I downloaded the latest driver, check the ink, and checked the paper. Everything seems to be working fine, it's just that my document isn't printing out how I wanted it to look.

This is very frustrating. This seems like a hard problem to solve without viewing my screen so if anyone's willing to help, I can give you my Skype and we can use the remote desktop feature to look at my screen.
